Turn with me again to Psalm 55. Psalm 55. I was reading this Psalm this week and I got to verse 22. And one word grabbed my attention and blessed my heart. The whole psalm is a blessing. I'm gonna show you that in a moment, but one word grabbed my attention.

Verse 22 says, cast thy burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. The word that grabbed my attention was never. Never. Cast thy burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

What struck me about that word was the absolute certainty of it. The absolute certainty of it. I entered into the absolute certainty of the salvation of God's people in Christ. The absolute certainty of it. The dogmatic security that God's people have in Christ. The dogmatic security. The message of the gospel is certain good news for every soul in Christ.

Certain good news. It is not a possibility of good news. It's not conditional good news based on how God's people respond to it. Which is good news. Every time we stand up and declare God's word to God's people, it is certain good news for them because, here's the reason why.

Here's the reason why. The declaration has nothing to do with them and everything to do with God. You mind if I repeat that? This is true, and this is good. Every time that a man stands up into a pulpit and declares God's word to God's people, it is certain good news for them, and here's the reason why. You know, everybody thinks that this is dependent on them, us. You know, we've gotta, you know, all the false religion is now, what are you gonna do with it? You know, you gonna let that slip through your fingers or you gonna grab hold of it? This is, okay, listen.

Every time that a true preacher stands in a true pulpit and declares God's true word, it is certain good news because the declaration has nothing to do with the people and everything to do with God. It's a declaration that was made before God's people, without God's people, in spite of God's people.

It's a declaration that needs no response. You mind if I repeat that? You mind if I just start over? Think about this, it's a declaration that needs no response. We're not looking for any response. It's a declaration that has no possibility of being changed or altered. It is a sovereign word from the sovereign God and no one can question, hinder, or make it void. If God says, I will and they shall, then he will and we shall. That's our gospel. That's our gospel. And that's wonderful news because everything that God has said concerning his people is good and certain. It's good and certain.

Verse 22 says, cast thy burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Let me show you some certainties that involve this word never. some certain dogmatic declarations that include or repeat this word, never. Turn with me to John chapter six. John 6 verse 35, it says, Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger. And he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

He that comes to me, and how can a sinner come to Christ? You know, we just so happen to be in the same chapter that has verse 44. No man can come to me except the Father which has sent me draw him. That's the only way a sinner can come to Christ. That's the only way a sinner can cast their burden on Christ. If the Father quickens and draws and calls and takes it out of the sinner's clutches and lays it on Christ, that's the only way.

He said in verse 35, I'm the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Those of you who have Christ, okay, not everybody has Christ. Those of you who have come to Christ by being drawn by the Father to the Lord Jesus Christ.

And in order to come to Christ, the first thing you gotta leave is yourself. You gotta leave your religion, you gotta leave your works, you have to leave everything. That's what it is to come to Christ. It's to get rid of everything and walk away from everything but Christ.

Those of you who have Christ, spiritually speaking, really assess yourselves. Look inside yourselves and answer this, okay? Spiritually speaking, is there anything other than Christ that you hunger or thirst for, spiritually speaking. Is there anything other than Christ that you hunger or thirst for? No. No. Not for God's people. There never will be. There never will be. There will never be anything else other than Christ that we need. that we desire.

Verse 35, Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Verse 37, he said, all that the Father giveth me shall come to me. And him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. No wise means never. what it means.

I remember, it wasn't one moment in time, it was a period of time, and I'm still in that period of time, but there came a point in time when the Lord revealed to me that if I want to come to Christ, the only reason is because the Father has drawn me to Christ. There was a period in my life when I was so worried about wondering for my own self, what if I want to come to Christ and want to be saved?

And then I go to him and he tells me, you didn't make the cut. You don't have the right ticket number. You weren't, you're not in the chosen group. Well, Every soul who didn't make the cut and is not holding the right ticket and is not in the correct group doesn't want to come to Christ.

They all want to come to religion. They all want to come to their works. They all want to come to church. They all want to come to their self-righteousness and their good deeds. That's what they want to come to. Look at me. Look at me. Every soul that only wants to look to Christ, God made that soul look to Christ. That's the only way any sinner can believe on Christ. Faith is not of ourselves. It's the gift of God. And every soul who receives that desire to come to Christ and to be saved by Christ and to find mercy in Christ and be covered in the blood of Christ, he said, there is no possibility that that soul will be turned away. That soul will not come and stand before the judgment throne of Christ, pleading Christ and begging for Christ and be turned away. He said, it's not going to happen. Not going to happen. Never.

And that's good news. Look with me at John chapter 10. John 10 verse 27, he said, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish. Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father which gave them me is greater than all and no man is able to pluck them out of my father's hand. It's not a possibility. They're never going to perish. It's never going to happen. It's not going to happen. Don't you love dogmatism? Is that a word? Don't you love dogmatic? It's not going to happen. Look at John 11 verse 23. John 11 verse 23, Jesus saith unto her, thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Never. Never. One more here in this little run. Turn over to Hebrews 13. Hebrews 13 verse 5, let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with such things as you have, for he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.

He said, I will never cast out the ones that my father has drawn to me. They will never perish. They will never die because I will never leave them. I'll never forsake them. Never. And here's the reason why. Here's the reason why he will never forsake his people. It's because he was forsaken for them. He was cast out for them. They will in no wise be cast out. Why? He was cast out for them. They're not gonna perish. Why? He perished for them. He died for them. He that lives and believes in me is never gonna die. Why? He died for them.

And that's what Psalm 55 spiritually illustrates for us. Go back with me over there to Psalm 55. David penned this at a time of his own trouble and his own betrayal. And you can hear his life in this, but this was not written to point us to David. These words right here are the words of the Lord Jesus Christ. The words of the scriptures are the words of Christ. And this is his moment of being cast out, cast out of the favor of God, forsaken by God. This is his moment of the suffering and the perishing death of the cross and it's all because he was bearing the sins of his selected people.

Because Christ endured the fullness of this That's why his promise of redemption and his promise of salvation and his promise of security for his people is so dogmatic. It's because of this. All built on and standing on and founded on this right here. This is why it's so certain, okay?

Listen to the Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane, listen to his betrayal, listen to his conviction, listen to his death, listen to his resurrected victory. Verse one. Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not thyself from my supplication. Attend unto me and hear me. I mourn in my complaint and make a noise. Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked, for they cast iniquity upon me. And in wrath, they hate me.

How sad is it that we, I understand that we were not alive 2,000 years ago, but we are included in the sins of 2,000 years ago. That's our only hope. Our sins were there 2,000 years ago. And how sad is it that we, his own, received him not? How sad is it that we by nature despised him and rejected him and hid our faces from him and all of us like sheep walked away, went astray. By our own sinful natures we esteemed him not. If God hadn't laid hold of us, would we have esteemed him? No. We esteemed him not, but he was stricken, he was smitten of God, he was afflicted. We would have been the very ones wagging our heads at him, cursing him, spitting on him. We would have been the very ones.

But he allowed himself to be led as a lamb to the slaughter to redeem us from everything that we naturally are. And verse four, he said, my heart is sore pained within me, and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. All of our iniquity was laid on him. Therefore, the terror of death was laid on him. That's where the sin was, so that's where the death was. Verse five, he said, fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. Can you imagine the fear and dread of the judgment of God?

Verse six, and I said, oh, that I had wings like a dove, for then would I fly away and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off and remain in the wilderness. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. destroy oh Lord and divide their tongues for I have seen violence and strife in the city, all of this sin.

Our Lord said if it's possible let this cup pass from me of being touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He said oh I'm so sorry if I could die from this sorrow. I can only imagine how, I can't, that's a ridiculous thing. I can't imagine what our sin must have felt like, tasted like, to the holy purity that he is.

He said, destroy, destroy this, destroy them. That cry to destroy was in himself for his people. out of himself for those who are not his people. But for all who are his people, this is why he came. This is the purpose of why he came. Destroy everything that they naturally are in me. Destroy me. Them in me. Verse 10, day and night they go about, they go about it upon the walls thereof. Mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof. Deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

For it was not an enemy that reproached me. Then I could have borne it. Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me. Then I would have hid myself from him. But it was thou a man mine equal, my God and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together and walked up to the house of God in company. Judas was the one who betrayed our Lord. Therefore, our Lord said, it wasn't an open enemy that betrayed me. It was one who was supposed to be my friend. And I'm telling you, but for the grace of God, any and all of our names could go right there.

Verse 15, he said, let death seize upon them. Let them go down quick into hell for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them. If we could only enter into what took place on the cross, the death of all of this enmity, the death of all of this wickedness and all of this sin, And we're either going to endure that wrath in Christ or out of Christ. But every soul on this earth is going to endure this punishing wrath of God on his or her sin against Christ. Every soul on this earth.

But verse 16, he said, as for me, I will call upon God and the Lord shall save me. I know he will not leave my soul in hell. He will not suffer his holy one to see corruption. Verse 17, evening and morning and at noon will I pray and cry aloud and he shall hear my voice.

He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me for there were many with me. All of his people were with him. And when his soul was delivered in peace from that battle, all of their souls were delivered in peace from that battle. Our Lord said, cry unto Jerusalem that her warfare is accomplished. It's over. It's done. Verse 19, God shall hear and afflict them, even he that abideth of old, because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him. He hath broken his covenant. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart. His words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. That definitely was seen in Judas. He came up and he said, hail, master, and then he kissed him. Smoother than butter, softer than oil, but war was in his heart.

And all of God's people know beyond any shadow of a doubt that but for the grace of God, we're all capable of the exact same thing. Every one of us. No man or woman is above his or her own sinful heart. No man or woman is an exception to the wicked natures of these sinful hearts.

And that's what makes verse 22 such good news. That's what makes this dogmatic promise from God our Savior such good news to us. Verse 22 says, cast thy burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Knowing what in this sinfulness we're capable of. Lord, I'm casting my burden on you. Keep me, keep me or I won't be kept. If you don't keep me, I'm not gonna be kept. I need to be kept by the power of God or I'm not gonna be kept. I know what I'm capable of, I know what I am, and I cast my all on you.

And what he delivered us from, everything that this sinfulness is capable of, what he delivered us to, everything that Christ has secured for us. No matter how wicked our sinful nature is, he's never gonna let us be moved from that place of redemption in him. Never. Never. Verse 23 says, but thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction.

Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. but I will trust in thee. Christ said that for his people. He will do the trusting for his people and if he's in charge of our trusting, we're gonna be safe. We'll be safe in him, with him, we're safe. Brother Henry Mahan posed this question one time.

He said, how secure is a believer's salvation? You know, liars stand in pulpits and tell people, now be careful, you're going to lose your salvation. You don't want to lose your salvation. How secure is a believer's salvation, a child of God's salvation? He said, however secure Christ is, that's how secure the believer is. However secure Christ is with the Father, that's how secure the believer is with the Father.

We were chosen in Him, blessed in Him, adopted in Him, accepted in Him, redeemed in Him, forgiven in Him, called in Him, sealed in Him. Sealed in Him. And whatever His standing is with the Father, That's our standing with the Father in Him. And I believe this would be a good scripture to close with. Go with me to 2 Corinthians 1. 2 Corinthians 1. 2 Corinthians 1 verse 19 says, For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him, amen unto the glory of God. What that means is, when the question is asked, well, you know, Christ died on the cross and he did the saving, now are God's people secure in what he did? It's not, well, yes and no. The answer is yes. Yes and yes, amen means yes. Yes and yes. Yes and amen. It's not yay and nay, it's certainty. It's all certainty. Yay and amen. God be the glory for that. Amen.
