We live in a Facebook world.  Not so long ago, no one thought about communicating so easily with such a potentially wide variety of people, but things are different today.  I recognize that the people of God as well as the general public receive quite a lot of enjoyment via this social media.  It is a wonderful way to stay in touch with family and friends.  Gospel articles, cheerful words, recipes, pictures, etc. are shared with others which bring gladness to the heart and a smile to the face.  However, that which offends me as a child of God and preacher of the gospel is that there are some who profess to believe the truth of grace and put things on FB that are unfit to be read or repeated.  

     Before you write something or click “like” or “share,” please give serious thought to the worthiness of the words or pictures you are about to dump on the internet.  If you profess to believe the gospel of Christ, you should NEVER POST the filthy language of the world (you know the vile words I mean), off-color remarks, sexual innuendos or pictures that will offend other believers and be read by children and unbelievers.  But there is an even greater reason for exercising extreme caution in what is sent.  Will the content of your posting bring reproach to the Lord Jesus you say you believe?  Will it magnify His name?  My FB friend, the Bible gives an absolute standard for all of our actions.  “…Do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

     Think before you put something on FB.  Can I post this for the glory of my Lord?  Will this posting be inconsistent with the message of grace and godliness?  Will this bring reproach upon the gospel I profess to believe, the Christ I say I adore and the church of which I am a part?  David prayed this timely prayer; let us do the same.  “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips” (Psalm 141:3)
