Worse than an Infidel

Modern society and modern religion rushes faster and faster to excuse what the Bible expressly forbids. This is seen in one way when professing believers walk away from the responsibilities and relationships they have entered into and pledged themselves to in the marriage and family vows. Men walking out on their wives and families and women doing the same. Paul says in 1 Timothy 5:8,

“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

To do such in a “denial of the faith” and those who do so are “worse than an INFIDEL!"  An infidel is an unbeliever! Infidels deny the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. These do these things are such no matter what they PROFESS! It is to bring reproach to the name of Christ and His Church. Such individuals are to be viewed as such and treated as such, not excused and treated as if their course of action is the norm. Why? Because of what this relationship represents! It represents CHRIST and HIS HOUSE!

“But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:6)

Christ will never fail to provide for His house. He has provided all things to see to their salvation and care and done so at the greatest inconvenience, suffering and sacrifice! These who forsake these sacred unions and responsibilities do so because of a love of SELF! They care not who they hurt or what the cost will be. They are oblivious to the feelings and lasting scars they cause little children and spouses. Furthermore, providing for one’s house means more than just doing so financially and materially. More important is the care for them emotionally day by day and the love they are to be shown for the vow that was made, “to love and to cherish…till death do us part.”

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” (Ephesians 5:25)

Make no mistake about it, they that do such things are “WORSE than an INFIDEL!”
