Note: It's been brought to my attention by some of my fiercest critics (Scott Price and John Pedersen) have written about me, stating that they think I'm a compromising tolerant calvinist (and therefore in their estimation, an unbeliever, and an arch-heretic of the first order!). I normally don't take the time to respond to critics like this, but I thought I'd break down logically the problem with calling "tolerant calvinists" unregenerate unbelievers. It's time to put this sort of nonsense talk to an end!
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. - 2 Corinthians 11:3
Back in the days of carpenterism, and even today if you hop on facebook, you'll find some folks that love to talk about "tolerant calvinists." See, it's not enough to just bash freewillers on facebook all day, one must also whittle away their time attacking those who might even think of compromising by speaking peace to such "heretics." But not only are tolerant calvinists attacked, they are all attacked as unregenerate. But this is not logical. And here are my reasons for this assertion!
To assert that all “tolerant Calvinists” are unregenerate is to presuppose that all “tolerant Calvinists”
To insist that all “tolerant Calvinists” are unregenerate, therefore, is indeed to assert:
To summarize, I simply cannot see or understand how this position regarding tolerant calvinists as unregenerate can be reconciled with the claim that the Gospel is "what truly matters.” If someone comes to me confessing Christ, showing an interest in what I consider to be the Gospel, I will embrace them instead of cynically nitpicking at their confession like some in the sovereign grace camp love to do for whatever reason. Let us not depart from the SIMPLICITY that is in Christ!
