Beware of Men
"God's Simple Plan of Salvation"
by Scott Price

"Beware of men: for they will deliver you up before councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues." Matthew 10:17

This command to beware of men is just as important today as it was in the day of Christ. The type men that Christ warns us about are religious men. Men are liars but religious men are the biggest liars of all. They lie for a living in their "full time ministry". They work for folks that have itching ears who want to hear lies (2 Tim 4:3).

These men will persecute those us of who proclaim the truth of God's grace. Christ spoke about the Pharisees who "trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others". The gospel of God's unconditional sovereign grace is the message they hate that stirs them up to sometimes even murderous thoughts. They killed the Lord Jesus Christ over that message. Christ warns that "ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake" (Matt 10-22).

We operate in a world that is dominated with this false religion and the lies they propagate, so we should expect to receive a whole lot of opposition. If we do not it must mean we are not giving out the whole truth. We must not compromise the truth because of opposition especially from the religious crowd. The religious men and women of the world will seek you out to try all they can to discredit you, your God, and your message. This is the warning of scripture as a whole. Just expect it when you oppose and expose the lies of false religion.

It does not matter who opposes us whether they are rich, famous, good looking, in a place of authority, or even in our own family, we are not to compromise by toning down the message of grace. In attempts to tone the message down only makes it not have any power (Romans 1:16, 1 Cor. 1:17). May the Lord give His people strength to face the lies of this generation and be on guard when the men of Religion rear they ugly heads.
